Beyerdynamic DT 880 PRO

I’m still looking for something to supplant my DT-880 Pro as my daily driver. The DCA Noire XO sounds better, but the Beyerdynamics are *much* lighter, making them comfortable enough to wear all day.

DT880 is still a great neutral headphone, except for the lack of sub-bass extension and those godawful treble spikes.

My first pair of "good" headphones were DT880's and I thought they were great for the price at the time.

How do you compare DT880’s with DT 1990 Pros? Also how they compare to Sundara? Does DT 1990 Pro reveal more details compared to Sundara for example?

It's a combination of the DT880's being less weird/bright than the other Beyerdynamic models and the K702's being crazy bright.

Dt 880 pro might be beyer's best headphone, along with the og dt 1990 and t1 gen 1. It has a good balance of lower mid warmth and treble.

I am absolutely biased, but I've always loved the sound of DT 880, with or without EQ, and even though it has a tad more treble than other headphones, it sounds pretty balanced to me.

They are both very good headphones especially for classical music at their price point.

I can play the exact same song an where it’s sibilant it is noticeably less sibilant on the dt 880’s than the k702’s.

The Beyers have so much unit variation that it's hard to say much about how they sound. I've measured over 8dB differences in seemingly identical units.

But the 880 pro’s are still for sale with no warning tag on them.
