Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 80 Ohm

The way the first picture came out makes it look like you’re holding an enormous pair of DT 990s

I am no expert but I also have a pair of 990 pros and yours look very damn close, down to the texture of the plastics. I’d say it’s probably a real one.

your DT 990 Pros sound legitimate based on your description. The 80ohm version doesn't have a coiled cable...ear pad discoloration is normal with the velour pads over time.

The 990 shares the same driver as the 770, so it won’t be an upgrade. You’ll just experience less bass and a larger soundstage.

DT990 have way better vocals than DT770. ...With EQ, DT990 are better IMHO. Just smoother, easier to EQ. Also DT990 don't really have less bass than DT770

The treble just really was too much. But you might like them.

With those three things in mind I was assuming the 990s could do it.

if your ears are not bleeding from that dt770 treble then 990 will do it for sure :)

Yes, the 990's are much brighter in the upper mids and especially the treble. That's the main difference, their bass is about the same as the 900 Pro X.

if you want open back DT 990 Pro X plus Dekoni earpads and they became perfect

I personally really dislike the 770 and would take the 990 any day.

I don't think there is much of a difference between 990 and 770. The basic hardware of them hasn't change, so in my opinion, it's not an upgrade

The difference between 990 and 770 is not very significant, there is just a slight difference in wearing comfort, and they are same in sound quality.
