am now settled on the HD 800 S as my sole open back

HD800s is great, but HEKSE is like, OMG!

Felt the same way about the HD 800 S. Technical and insane staging, but felt very "boring" to listen to.

I haven’t listened to my HD800s in months, but still glad that I have them

The HD800S is legendary for its soundstage, but I think there are many more "endgame" headphones out there today. ... But the HD800S can also feel a bit long in the tooth nowadays.

800s is a king of a soundstage and resolution/details but I never enjoyed it because it’s just lifeless and very sterile.

The HD800S is still a good headphone to have for that live airy soundstaged sound

I sold my HD800S for the Organic, after a year with it I have the HEkSE coming tomorrow to audition.

I absolutely love how they feel on my head, but ordered another cable 15 minutes into my first listening session.

Definitely OpenHeart is a great cable for the HD800S, but not only, I also got one for my IEMs and it is as nice as the one for the HD800s, very well built, soft and light, with good quality gold plat

You can also find the HD 800 a little bit cheaper used than the HD 800 S used. The main difference is the extra treble between 6-8kHz(depending on the head and ears)

I wanted something completely different to the stock cable, because I disliked the stock cable a lot. It felt way too substantial for a headphone as light as the 800 S.

question for the many hd800s owners here, where do you get replacement pads these days?

r/headphonesneutral21

Seriously. I do agree about the HD800s but the OG Susvara...laughable how the 660s2 found its way higher.

r/headphonesneutral6

With the exception of the 800s? Also what is budget?
