What one Redditor said

I need them they are more durable than 3.5mm and a lot of 4.4mm Bal cost like 5$ on aliexpress OP not all Bal is expensive.

if the difference isn't noticeable, at least they were cheap, and the cables are pretty damn beautiful, lol. ... at least my IEMs will be more stylish

I prefer 4.4mm cables. Actually gives me the volume want and often has a more robust cable termination

4.4 does offer a stronger plug. That was a big deal for me because of how I use my IEMs in the gym and I’ve busted a 3.5 plug a few times.

4.4 cables are no more expensive than 3.5.

r/iemsneutral9

They help for the more power hungry headphones so maybe if your listening setup is already 4.4mm for convenience?

r/iemsneutral6

Even if you do buy 4.4mm for your current IEM that don’t benefit for it, you can still use that same cable, and then use it for the future IEM if you upgrade or something.

r/iemspositive5

Useing 4.4mm prevents all of that, and allows you to use the device as intended. Instead of the "courtesy" 3.5mm they include.

r/iemsneutral4

I have 4.4mm on all of my IEMs just because I like thicker rods.

r/iemsneutral6

That being said, I do have a nice 4.4mm on my main set because it looks pretty, no other reason.

r/iemsneutral3

I buy 4.4mm so I don't have to use a 1/4 adapter on my K11 R2R lol.

r/iemspositive2

The real hard-truth advantages of an upgraded cable in 4.4 are the following: 1. Sturdier connection, less likely to break, easier to pull out from the jack if it comes to that.

r/iemsneutral2

Some DAPs for example have higher quality components for the 4.4mm output.

r/iemspositive2

4.4mm is the perfect balance between robustness of 6.35mm and the fragility of 2.5mm.

Unfortunately, both sides are “-“ on the 4.4mm, doesnt fit no matter which way I turn it. And the headphone port has two notches on either side, so wouldnt fit a cord that has a “+” and “-“ notch.
